Shah has been such a wonderful boy lately. He is full of fun (and cheekiness). I never get bitten anymore - until last night that is. I have a cold at the moment and my throat keeps drying out. So, while I was playing with his Lordship, I popped a throat lozenge into my mouth. He went completely berko and bit me on the chin - and wouldn't let go. There was blood everywhere. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed and told him so in a rather loud voice. What did he do - he dropped his head for a scritch - can you believe that? What did I do - gave him a scritch of course He is moulting at the moment so I guess he is a bit more sensitive than usual.

Maybe he thought you were missing Old Shah? Or maybe he was making sure that you really, really appreciate New Shah. Grasping at straws here.

And you told me Bonnie had US well trained...sorry about your bitten chin. Maybe Shah's hormones are kicking in, or else he's jealous of the lozenge, maybe both! ? It's hard when you get used to the pesky chickens behaving better for a bit; it takes you by surprise more when they suddenly regress.

He was back to being Mr Perfect tonight. When he behaves like this, he rivals the Gentleman Quaker, Ralph

This is like when we use bandaids... Cupcake really never bites, but put on a bandaid and you are likely to get a major wound. Granted, she clearly thinks she is helping us remove something that shouldn't be there, because she bites in a manner that she simply doesn't do when she thinks she's biting us... but still, it hurts

My lovebird did the same thing with bandaids. Also with pencils and Kleenex.

Just like Ralph does sometimes, I think that Shah has to remind himself-- and you, Jan-- that he is a Quaker parrot and needs to act like one now and then.
