Hi,
My name is Babytomeco,
I live in Pennsylvania.....
I found this little bird at work one day in March, It was a nice morning and we decided to open the windows. This bird just keep squawking and squawking, I finally went out and here sits this little injured bird on the grass so I went up to him and he stepped right up on my hand and I took him inside and looked him over, the top of his head was raw and missing feathers and was very tired. I put him in a box with a towel and gave him water to drink and a cracker. He was quiet the rest of the day and I decided to take him home. My husband and I made a safe spot for him and decided to search to find if someone has lost him, we had no clue what breed of bird he was, just concerned he was injured. We nursed him back to health and no one answered any ads or posted signs about this Bird. So we decided to keep him, I then asked around at different pet stores what kind of bird he was and did not find out what breed he was. He has been in good health and a very fun loving comical little friend to me, he bonded with me instantly and I could handle him and do anything to this bird I wanted to. He was my life. My friend and if you must say mate. We’ve had him for almost 7 years with no problems until now. Our Baby developed a rash around his eye and we decided to call a local vet. My husband took Baby to see them and they said he was a Quaker Parrot and they would treated him, they gave him some ointment. It started to clear up but started to come back again. We called the office back for a follow up and the Vet said they could not see the bird again as he is not legal in the state of Pennsylvania. A few days later late in the evening there was a knock on our door only to find out it was the Game Warden to take our beloved Baby bird. I was shocked and lost, they gave me a small dirty, dirty cage and told me to put the bird in the cage. I did not want to give up my Baby. But I had no choice, what could we do! We asked them where they were taking him and can we see him, they told me they were talking him to T&D Cats of the World Sanctuary... we pleaded with them to let us keep him and we would take him out of the state but they would not. Its been over a week now and I cried my heart out and I was tramatized by this event. I just keep reliving it over and over again. I am heartbroken, sickened, sad, depressed, and cannot get over my Baby Bird and best friend of 7 years, and I cannot believe he is actually gone and just taken from us like we don’t even belong to this world and society. Where is the freedom in that? Is this America? What right do they have to destroy a family’s life with their pet? I called this place T&D Cats of the World and they were nice enough to tell me he was there and he is doing ok and they were trying to acquaint him with other birds of his type. We can go to visit in May as if we were visiting a zoo. I started a petition to get signatures and sent a letter to our Governor and I sent a letter to the Vet on how he destroyed our family. I am just sick and cry every day for him.... Lost without him in PA.... if anyone interested in signing my petition please go to https:/change.org bring home Baby Bird
