Hi, and welcome to the forum! I haven't seen anything like that, either, and wouldn't even hazard a guess. I've had red mites on my chickens, but managed to take care of it before the eggs really showed on the feathers. Is it on his feathers and skin, or just the feathers? I would probably leave nothing to chance and would have him looked at by an avian vet. Please let us know when you do find out what it is!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I agree with Easttex - a trip to the vet should fix the problem.

Welcome to the Forum! I'm not at all sure what that might be either. An avian-experienced vet should be able to tell you what it is and what to do about it.

It certainly doesn't seem like mites. Bishop had something stuck on his feathers around his neck and face similarly to this once. I figure he got into something somehow, what that may be I have no idea. It was like greyish almost concrete-like stuff that wouldn't crumble off. Luckily he was getting ready to molt and so the new feathers came in perfectly fine and it was never seen again.
