This morning I had to witness nature at it's worst. Outside my living room I was watching the crows. Now these crows are very large... maybe 6 or 7 times the size of Oscar. Anyway... I saw one crow attack another in the sky... and they both landed in the park in the snow.
The one crow that was on top was screaming and beating up the other crow something horrible. Because of the noise... at least 7 other crows came swooping in. A few of them tried to defend the crow on the bottom... and others joined in on the attack. The poor crow on the bottom.... OMG.... the one on the top kept stabbing him with his long bill and I grew more and more disturbed. I couldn't help watch it... and what could I do?? Should I do anything?? Who started the fight... and why?
OK... it is mating season for these creatures... one of them crossed the line. As the attack went on for over 5 minutes... I was in tears... I ran outside in my back balcony... but I could not get close... because there is too much snow. I clapped my hands and yelled as loud as I could. All the crows took off except the two that were fighting. I was soooooo sad.
There really is nothing I can do... just be a bi-stander. I noticed that Oscar had been watching this too... and he crawled into his little travel cage... and stayed right there.. all protected.
5 more minutes went by... and I could not believe it.. Finally the crow on the bottom found a way out... and started to fly away. Two crows chased him over and over... and finally they were out of my site.
I really hate these things.... I hate thinking if the crow would live... or would they finally catch up and kill it??
I love nature... I love the park and I love the crows. I feed them every day by leaving leftovers in the street. Mostly the Huge Ravens come and get the food and fly away to hide it. Those parts are awesome. But of course this is still affecting me or else I would not be telling you my story.
the end.
