Clyde takes these spells where he attacks me and he has a particular squawk he only uses in that mood. I usually wear glasses at home and only wear my contacts to work, but we had a band job tonight and I wore the contacts for that. I wanted to spend some time with the birds this afternoon since we were going to be gone all evening and I went in there with my contacts in and Clyde went into berserker mode. I thought it was one of his spells, but now I'm wondering if it was because I wasn't wearing my glasses. I went in their room once before like that, briefly, and he flew over to me as usual, but then peered at my face and got a little freaky and flew away from me. I used to wear the contacts all day all the time and he was used to seeing me like that then, but it's been a couple of years -- I quit wearing contacts for a while and only recently went back to them. He's lived with us for six years! He ought to know it's me even without glasses by now. LOL The other birds don't seem to care whether I'm wearing glasses or not, even Jade, who's also an insane Quaker.
When he has a berserk spell, it sometimes lasts for several days, but because we were out all evening, the birds had to go into their cages, curtains drawn and lights out, very early and that means he'll get a good 12 hours of sleep tonight so maybe if it's hormones, he'll be less crazy tomorrow. If it was the lack of glasses, I'll be sure to wear them to go in there tomorrow and hope he's back to normal.

If I have my hair cut short or wear it in a different style, I get attacked by Shah. They like everything to stay the same - you should know this by now Siobhan. Poor Clyde - being upset like that. What's a boy supposed to do to teach his parront how to act and what to wear. It's back to the Human Training Manual for Quakers for you!!!!!

I think that was it. He's fine today because I'm wearing glasses and I took care to wear the OLD ones that he likes. Sheesh.

Happy is like that in reverse with me. My husband (the love of her life) wears glasses...when I put on my reading glasses, I apparently become irresistible. Happy also has a thing for baseball caps (because I would pet her with the bill of one before she allowed us to touch her with our fingers/hands.) The exception is ponytail holders: she must destroy them; they do not belong.

Shame on you Siobhan! That's twice in the last week or so that you've displeased Clyde by failing to follow Parrot Protocol and the guidelines set forth in the Official Parrot Slave Behavior Manual. First the armband incident and now this... You must atone for your sins.

I HAVE. Really. I have a very nasty bruise on the back of my neck where he punished me. I'm glad my hair covers it up or people would think I got into a barroom brawl. LOL I have been very careful to wear the glasses he likes in his presence and to scritch only where and when he indicates and I threw away all the nasty purple pellets he doesn't like that were in his dish (and Jade's -- she doesn't like the purple ones, either) although I did give one to Greta, who liked it just fine. And, of course, Clyde SAW me give it to her and I had to be punished for that, also. Evidently, NO ONE is allowed to like purple pellets if HE doesn't like purple pellets.

It always amuses me how they only want the food off your plate even if you give them some of the same food in their own tray. Obviously you are not allowed to have any input other than to let Clyde out of his palace whenever he wishes and to provide him with whatever food he wishes...oh, and you are not allowed to pay ANY attention to your other birds. Yes, I agree with Ralph and Gary - you must atone for your sins and say at least 100 Hail Quakers.
