Evening all, just after some advice. I rushed Byron to the vet today after he had a bath and then sat on my open notebook, getting ink all over himself. The vet was very good with him, but their nurses were all busy so I had to hold him while the vet cleaned him. Byron has returned home with me and is now in a big huff. He isn't biting but he is very reluctant to step up (although, wish patience, he will) and generally just wants to sit on his perch, preen and be independent.
I've played the tack of just leaving him to it, not pestering him, and giving him the space he needs. I've only asked him to step up if I'm walking out of the room to give him the opportunity to come with me. When he's not on his perch, he seems to want to be on my shoulder and will still give kisses to David and I when he wants to, so hopefully he's not that mad at us! What is your advice as to what to do? Am I doing the right thing by just letting him sit with us and leaving him alone?

It sounds like maybe he was more stressed from the experience than he is miffed at you. I would do what you are doing. Just let him decompress and decide for himself when things are normal again.

Ok, thanks easttex. Daft bird. Still, that'll teach me to leave open notebooks lying around! Should have seen the state of my notes: little green footprints all over the page! Will be CLOSING notebooks from now on, or using biro!

Oh my goodness, I love it when Shah sulks. I just leave him to it and enjoy the time being able to do stuff without him yelling or harassing me.

Haha yeah, I'm with Jan on this one-- Enjoy the break while you can! But seriously, he'll come around. Just give him time.

That's what I was wondering...I LOVE fountain pens (I used to enjoy doing calligraphy when I had time)! Biros just don't cut it. I also love hanging around stationery shops and buying different notebooks - all of which end up getting 'ruined' due to my writing not being perfect enough. I have at least 8 types of writing, depending on mood.
Gotta love those quaker sulking skills; they do it so well (almost as well as husbands).

I do have a fountain pen. On this occasion, I was writing with a green felt type pen which, it turned out, was completely non toxic to him (the vet recognised it). And OH MY GOODNESS! Byron can give any boyfriend I know a real run for his money in sulking skills. He still doesn't beat my sister for a good sulk though. She takes the biscuit, the tin and the tea cosy when it comes to sulking. Although I bet Byron could give her a run for her money!
