I apologize if this isn't the correct place to post this, I wasn't really sure where to do so. I was shopping at Home Depot today and found a little bonsai I fell in love with. I couldn't find any information on it as to specifically what type of plant it is, so I wasn't able to research it to see if it's safe to be around Yoshi. I wasn't going to buy it for this reason, but I just kept thinking about it my whole time at the store, so before I left I ended up grabbing it. For now I'm going to keep it at the opposite end of the home, where Yoshi is never at. If it turns out it's dangerous for him I'll just give it away. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you in advance!

It looks like a pot belly fig. As long as Yoshi doesn't eat any part of it, should be okay.

I am not sure I googled too, the leaves looked a bit like a ficus to me but it does also look the the plant Easttex said. Ficus are toxic not sure about the Formosana. Best keep away from him probably. If you think he would chew. I have a giant dieffenbachia in my livingroom that is toxic but Casey never goes over to it.

Thanks for the replies! I'm having a hard time narrowing it down between those two types as well. I found a good spot for it near the window. Unfortunately that is about 8 feet away from Yoshi's cage. He hasn't shown any interest in it yet, but it's hard to predict if he will or not. I don't have any other plants in here (because of him!), so no idea if he will be fascinated by it or not.
I've read somewhere that some plants are dangerous just for them to be around, without eating it. That was my primary concern, but none of the reading I've done in regards to this seems to suggest this would be one of those plants. I guess I'll just keep a close eye on him, and if he starts expressing interest in it, it'll have to go.
Thanks again!

You can probably send a photo to any bonsai nurseries and ask them for identification.

I go by the rule that all house hold plants are potential death traps. We only have one and Byron is not allowed anywhere near it.

We keep all of our plants on the floor by the patio sliding glass door. Cupcake is well trained not to go to the floor, and has basically shown zero interest in the plants over the years, so they don't pose much of a threat. That said, a couple of them would not be safe for her to eat, so it does make me nervous, even though it would be very hard for her to get to them, since we strategically place them in between all of the safe ones. As soon as it's warm, we'll put the dangerous ones outside.

I also fall on the house plants are potential catastrophes waiting to happen if you have a QP. I do have a bamboo and a Christmas Cactus, quite inaccessible to Chuckie. Fortunately, Chuckie has shown little interest in power cords, plants, artificial plants, and other possible problems. That said, I don't risk leaving him alone if his house door is open. A funny thing about him: if I really want him to go in his house, I simply reach for the vacuum cleaner and he makes a beeline into the back of the cage. All the while looking at me like I am nuts for touching such a horrible device.

Haha... I wish that worked on Cupcake. Only thing that happens when I turn on the vacuum cleaner is she flies around screaming at it. Haha.
She too has shown little interest in power cords and such things... but I try to bird proof everything at least somewhat. There are definitely places that are still a risk though.
