Hi Joseph, if your little friend is new to your household he might be feeling stressed & may take a while to relax and eat normally. Meanwhile, maybe you could try soaking his new food in some unsweetened apple juice & perhaps contact the breeder to ask what brand of pellets he had before. More knowledgeable people than I will give their opinions soon, I'm sure. Welcome, by the way!

You definitely want to make sure you get more pellets and keep him on that as the base of his diet, and keep those sunflower seeds as a treat. When Cupcake is given access to sunflower seeds, her willingness to eat other things decreases because she finds them so tasty, I would wager. That said, you can try enthusiastically eating the food you want the bird to try and making lots of "mmmmm" noises as you do, while encouraging them to try the food. This will sometimes help give them the incentive to try things. Does your bird not try to eat your food while you are eating? One of the best ways to get Cupcake to try to eat something is to eat it at the dinner table. She wants whatever is on my plate

Great! As far as the other foods go, definitely keep trying-- it can take a lot more than two months to convince these birds to try things... but eventually they will often give in

Hi Joseph... well at least now he is trying a little... that is a good sign. I know my Oscar loves food that is warm... like pasta or a little boiled potato. Maybe try those things too... however, this should only be given once in a while. Oh.. he loves a little pieces of toast too.

Glad that your parrot is eating. As aaron said, you have to keep trying when you're introducing new foods. It took me 8 months to get Ralph to try broccoli, and now, it's one of his favorites. Fresh green peas are his absolute favorite food, raw or cooked, but even those he wouldn't eat when I first got him. So don't give up-- keep trying those vegetables.
