Hello all!
It's been years since I've been on the boards. A lot of living happening. I hope everyone is well and happy!
Now, let me get to the incredibly painful part....
Last year, I met the most wonderful man I've ever known and decided to move in with him. Doing that meant my baby, Argus (a "her" interestingly enough, lol), would go to live with my ex to keep him and her sister (a little conure named Bug) company. It broke my heart to separate from her, but the choice had to be made for her safety and emotional stability. My boyfriend has a cat, and the little guy is a hunter - birder, specifically. The other night, I received a call from my ex to tell me he was being evicted from his home and would need to find a place to send Argus permanently. My boyfriend immediately offered for us to take her - he loves me and wants me to be happy despite the obstacles. I brought her home and just as I suspected, the cat couldn't get enough of the "new hunting toy." He made the typical cat chattering sound and tried climbing up my leg to get to her. We were hoping that he wouldn't really be interested in her at all, unfortunately, she's his new favorite thing.
After a LOT of consideration, and as much as it tears me up, I need to find a home for her that is safe and loving. Normally, I would be happy to figure out a way for everyone to live harmoniously... But, in this situation - it's just not viable. "Harmony" would require her to be stuck in her cage to keep her safe from the dangerous (albiet, wonderfully sweet) predator in our home. I promised her that I would take care of her. And, the only way I can do this is to place her with a loving family.
I'm genuinely hoping someone on these boards can help me. I know there are a lot of Denverites on the boards (well, there were...) and every last one seemed wonderful.
Argus is:
A 13 year old DNA sexed female, completely healthy, well adjusted, a bit cage aggressive (but, most quakers are ), has never laid a single egg, she speaks a little - not much, loves to sit on your shoulder, likes her baths, enjoys singing time, and is as sweet as you could ask for.
If anyone out there can help me keep her safe, please let me know?
