Hi My Quacker is 20 yrs old and fell off her perch. I heard her having a hard time so went to check on her she was at the bottom of cage panting and at first look like she broke her leg then a few minutes later she seemed ok what is a Seizure of sorts? she normally would not let me pet her in her cage but this time she let me pick her up and hold her to get her to calm down. after about 15 min she seemed back to normal. What was this and is there anything i should do? she is back to her nasty self that is why i think she is ok but want to make sure there is nothing i should do or give her like an asprin?

My 23 y/o recently had a spell that sounds very similar to your Quaker's. He had no known history of seizures, and I hope it was just a fright. Mine is under the care of an avian vet for unrelated matters, and here's what I got from her. As I described it, she said it sounded like a seizure, but the fact that he recovered quickly argues against it. There are exceptions, but typically it will take hours or a full day to return to normal after a seizure. I've been keeping an eye on mine for a couple weeks, and there hasn't been a repeat as far as I know. If it happens again, we'll assume it's a seizure and the vet will run tests to see what might be causing them.
After saying all of that, I would recommend that you have your girl vet-checked, especially if she hasn't been for a while. Seizures do often come on as birds (and dogs, and people, etc.) get older. My Peppy has had so many tests run on him over the last five months, it gives me some reason to believe it was not a seizure, but I wouldn't be comfortable assuming that in your case. At the very least I would call my vet to discuss the episode. I would not give her any medication without a vet's direction, and certainly not aspirin.
I hope she's okay!

Please... never give any of your pets human medication... no matter how small the dose. It can virtually kill them. Easttex has given really good advice. Time to go to the vet.
