I just found a baby (?) bird outside that cannot fly off. It crawled up in my garage wall to get away from me. Is there anything I can do to help it along. If it comes out tomorrow, I'll try to catch it and take it to my vet that repairs broken wings and such on wild birds for free. I'm not sure it will let me catch it. Right now it has crawled up in a crevice where I cannot reach it. I'm thinking that this might be a baby Quail since this area was named after them. supposedly all the development chased them off but it looks similar to the pictures I've seen of them. It's grey and spotted all over. I'm thinking it's a baby because it looks like it still has more down feathers than real feathers but I'm no expert. I didn't see any damage on it when I first saw it. I put some water and seed in a little dish out for it but I'm guessing it only eats bugs.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Dianne, Thank you for trying to help this little one! If you can catch it, I think taking it to your vet would be a very nice thing to do. Dani

thanks Dani. I put some seed out after looking up what they like to eat. (flowers, seed and bugs) When I checked later, she was sitting in the middle of the bowl so I think she liked it. This morning, she was gone but I do see she ate a lot of the seed. I think she'll be fine - otherwise - I'll see her back here again tonight.

Quite often, we humans think baby birds are abandoned or in trouble when they're not. The parents are likely watching over and taking care of the baby and you should let it alone, though making sure it has food is nice of you. Unless you're sure it's injured, probably it's best to not intervene.
