Hey guys, Yoshi had her right wing clipped and right only for some reason. I am trying to understand why only one wing was clipped also how long before it grows back. I want her to be able to fly around the house as she pleases since we have no fans. It doesnt look like her feathers have grown out at all over the past 2 months.

In my opinion, that's not a nice thing to do to a bird. Better to give a light clip on both, and allow the bird to retain some balance. I hope she was at least allowed to fledge properly before she was clipped. If she wasn't, you might have to help her learn how.
Birds will replace missing feathers at any time, but clipped or damaged feathers have to wait for a molt.

The one-wing clip isn't uncommon, though it really isn't a proper clip. As easttex said, a light clip of both wings is more effective. Yoshi will have to go through a full molt before she'll replace her clipped flight feathers. It's difficult to predict exactly when that will happen, but it probably won't be too far in the future.

Kyle, the same thing happened to Byron at the pet store and I hate it I think it makes him feel really unbalanced and I feel really sorry for him. I think the new feathers will grow through when they moult and, as far as I know, they moult roughly once or twice a year. I am also planning to harness train Byron so that he can fly outside with me safely. It's always a risk taking a bird outside, but the aviator harness is very well designed and recommended by almost every reputable avian group, organisation, rescue or advice centre. Hopefully it won't take our little ones too long before they're back to their old selves again

Yes... Oscar moults once a year... well he loses feathers often but to have his wing feathers drop... it would be about a year. Terrible to unbalance a bird like that.... sheeesh
