Welcome, Marley and Roxy. There are many posts on how to welcome a new quaker into your home - but if you don't know where to begin, please ask! You can start by talking to her gently and don't try to force physical contact until you think she's ready. Does she step onto your finger, or is she afraid of you? Give us more information and people will answer all your questions. Thanks for rescuing her.

Hello Marley and Roxy and welcome! This forum is a wonderful support network and is definitely a good place to post questions. If you already have a parrot then a lot of the basic information will be similar. I would say the most important things are checking out a solid diet and making sure sleep patterns are measured. A little rescue Quaker will take more time to adjust, so chatting gently to her while she is inside the cage will help get her used to you. I read to my little boy Byron and he loves it. Quite often he'll snuggle up on my shoulder when I've got a book open and sleep while I read to him. Byron is on a diet of pellets, as seeds are very fatty and Quakers are prone to liver problems in that regard. He's on KAYTEE's cockatiel rainbow mix and gets a bowl of boiled carrot, sweet potato, peas and mixed pulses every day. On occasion he will also have apples, baby sweet corn and I try to feed him broccoli every week. He also has an egg at the weekends and crushed oyster shells in his food for a calcium boost. He also really loves apples and peppers hope that helps get you started, and thanks for taking on the little girl, not enough Quaker owners, or parrot owners, are well informed and these little guys often suffer.

Welcome! There's lots of information and good advice in the posts here on the Forum. Reading through them is a good investment of your time, and a good way to learn more about Quaker parrots. A good book on Quakers is helpful too, like Mattie Sue Athan's Guide to the Quaker Parrot or Shelly Lane's book available here. Ask any questions you might have here on the Forum and you'll likely get plenty of answers and suggestions. Lots of friendly and helpful people here.
