I feel the need to come back and try to sell everyone who hasn't read it on reading this article. It may be the best thing I've read about abused or misused parrots and the way they can come back to give humans another chance. It's hard to look at the pictures of the Goffin's, and I got pretty weepy in spots, but it's such a positive story overall, and so well told. Anyone who has taken in a rehomed, troubled parrot will probably be able to relate. It's long but engrossing.

You beat me to it! I was actually headed here to post this article myself. This morning, one of my coworkers left a copy of the New York Times magazine on my desk with this article in it and I wanted to make sure everyone read it! It's a great article.

This was a fascinating article. I know they use horses to help traumatized people - didn't realise that parrots also played a role. And it helps the parrots as well. Thanks for posting it Easttex.
