Once again Oscar is acting like a weirdo. He has attacked my hand so many times and I cannot figure out the reason. He used to want to sit with me in the morning and preen himself but now he wants to go to the kitchen and scream. (I love quiet mornings)
His eating habits have changed when sometimes he likes certain foods and then he won't touch it.
He used to love playing in his condo but now he only wants to be in the bottom drawer with an empty box in it which he will protect viciously.
Three nights in a row I put him to bed and cover him and in the morning I find that he is not in his cage but somewhere on the outside of it under the blanket. (the door did not close fully cause of his tie wraps in there). I have removed some tie wraps and now the door closes but I can tell he does not want to be in there.
When I lay on the couch he would come down and sit on my left hand and be a good little boy... but now my left hand is his enemy.
I fully think it is the mild weather that is mixing him up.... and the earlier sun rises and later sun sets. I know it will just take time for him to adjust but in the mean time, he is driving me crazy. lol...

That sounds like hormones talking. The lengthening days and not the weather is the cue for breeding season. It can come on very early, so they'll be ready when the time is right. If you can fool him into thinking his days are actually getting shorter, or at least staying static, you might be able to reverse it for this season, but there is no guarantee.

I have thought about eventually getting blackout curtains for the windows in my room so that I can have full control of the lighting in there to prevent this type of issue. That way I can have the UV light on for the day and then in the evening close the curtains to make it dark enough for the birds to sleep their 12 hours.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess I got my work cut out for me again.

Yeah, I agree, that sounds like hormones.
Cupcake has been a pain in the butt lately too. Her sleep schedule is all messed up because we've been stuck at home for so many days, and she historically gets weird when we're home a lot, and to top it all off, my wife is seriously down for the count with what seems to be a case of food poisoning or a stomach virus, and Cupcake seems to be all worried about her too. She just wants to visit with her, but I'm not letting her, because she's a very cuddly bird, and if she cuddles with my sick wife, and then cuddles with me, I'll be sick before you know it.
She's been looking for places to nest relentlessly, and I've had to drape towels and sheets all over the place to keep her from getting nesty. Luckily she really just isn't an aggressive bird, hormones or not, so we're not getting bitten, but still... Driving me craaaazy.

Bonnie has reverted back to biting hubby's left hand once we got back from camping…it's very puzzling and demoralising to have to put her back in her cage when she does it. Sometimes she's just sitting there happily with him, then suddenly latches on to his arm and doesn't let go - last time he hadn't even moved prior to her biting him. There was an open beak imprint which started bleeding. Sigh…

Gosh, sorry to hear that biteybird. That must be really frustrating. I don't get it.

I don't get it either Aaron. That is exactly what Oscar has been doing to my left hand. Attack for no reason and I got the blood and bruises to prove it. We just don't see the same things that they do.
Yesterday was funny as Oscar was in his face cloth condo and the drawer below that one is empty. I was sitting in the living room (not far from the bath room) and I could hear strange noises coming from Oscar and he had not called out in a few minutes (which is also strange). I went to see what he was doing and here he had jumped down from the top drawer (at the back) to the second drawer... and was running around and trying to chew his way out. I opened the second drawer carefully and he had pooped in there and had it spread from one end of the drawer to the other... now that was funny to see. Poor little guy had his tail full of his own poop and his feet were covered. Needless to say he wanted a bath right away. That was good with me as I knew he would be quiet for at least an hour. First time I have seen him covered in poop... guess it was his turn ... lol

And I don't get it either, Aaron & Julianna. Now Oscar covered in poop - how degrading for him! If that happened to Bonnie she'd probably still not want a bath and I'd have to try and wipe it all off without getting nipped.
