Hello all,
is it safe to feed red, green or yellow pepper slices to a quaker parrot? Have not tried it, just wanted to check first. Thanks!

Yes, those are all good for them, but they usually prefer the seeds inside the pepper more than the pepper itself, just make sure the seeds are white and fresh without any mold.

Bonnie eats (gobbles!) the seeds first, then some of the pepper flesh itself, but not much. As far as I'm aware they're not fatty and therefore not dangerous in moderate/larger amounts.

Ralph isn't especially fond of peppers of any kind. He will eat a few of the seeds once they've been separated from the flesh and allowed to dry.

Mr P loves peppers but they have to have seeds in them. If they don't he wont touch them. If they do, he will eat the seeds and the "meat" around the seeds. He never eats the skin. He also likes Jalapeno peppers and eats them the same way. We tried habaneros too, but he wouldnt eat those.

Hahahaha, it turns out Byron LOVES peppers! He's not actually all that fussed about the seeds, he likes the flesh and the skin. I've put them in his bowl today along with boiled baby sweetcorn, peas and carrots, and a sprinkling of crushed oyster shells and so far all he's doing is digging around for the peppers! We've only tried red pepper so far, so I've no idea if this love affair will spread to other pepper colours too.

Keep trying, it sometimes takes a few tries before they like things.

Angela, Byron refused to touch anything green for the first two weeks of being home. Once I realised his highness required everything boiled, the doors to the meal table opened. Lots of people on here have said they can be really picky and will change their minds constantly. Something Byron hates one day can be his new favourite a week or so later!

That seems very much in keeping with his gentlemanly ways. George the YCA was the same way with pepper seeds, and he wasn't quite the gentleman that Ralph is. More a matter of being super fussy.
