My little guy quakes when I pick him up. I think he's hungry because he's begging. I put him in his cage and he stops. Is this his way of saying "I know you' re my mom."

Welcome to the Forum! The quaking is typically a begging behavior, but not necessarily begging for food. It could be a sign that your baby parrot just wants some attention.

Bonnie, 8 months old, often 'quakes' when she wants to play with something we are holding above her head (e.g., bit of cardboard or an item she hasn't seen before). She sometimes does it when she sees the TV remote control up the right way - we had to turn it over because she chewed off quite a few of the rubber buttons.

Oh, my understanding of 'quaking' is they bob their heads up and down, sway from side to side and flap their little wings a bit...hope this is right!

My Quaker is 5ish years old and will still do the quaking when she's playing with my glasses (of all things.)

Bonnie does it when I put food in her tray, when I hold something close to her that she hasn't seen before, or when she's about to lunge and peck at my wedding ring...well, at almost anything now that I think about it. It's all part of the fun!
