I suck at names, so doubt I can help much there. I did see a Quaker on /r/parrots named Oats, I thought that was funny and clever lol.

No sorry Easttex I'm not sure of who you mean... I did think of Bonnie Blue (haha was the name of the Scarlett O'Hara's daughter from Gone with the Wind) but not sure if it's too girly.. Plus I don't know whether he's a he or not!! Must look into DNA testing in Australia.... Thanks for the thought though Thanks Aaron. Can't wait to get him all set up! Yes Gary you most certainly did say he 'chose' me I am a little worried as my son is home on school holidays at the moment and I'm worried he might bond with my son while I'm at work!!!! Hope not! I did also think of Zeus.... Does someone else on this forum have a Zeus?? Is that were I got the name from.... He was a God, so kinda royalty lol! As I said I don't know how to do DNA testing here in Australia as yet, but maybe if it doesn't take too long I can do that then think of a name appropriate to what the sex of the bird actually is.... Oh Zim me too! There is actually a website with bird names on it that I'll have to look at Thanks

Hahaha, your excitement is so lovely Angela! And man, that cage was expensive! Byron cost me a fortune as well cos he's grey, but he was just so gorgeous I couldn't not bring him home! I named Byron because I'm a poet and the sound of the name seemed to suit him. Do you have a favourite author or musician? I don't know if Byron is a boy or a girl either. If he's a girl, (s)he'll just have to be a girl called Byron.

Hi Beccilouise! It's so easy to get excited when I think about him though! Yes not cheap, but the guy knew my husband so he actually is selling it to us for only $420 Aussie Dollars, so not as bad as it seems... Yes Byron does sounds very 'poetey'! Hmmmmm not really a favourite author or musician I'm afraid. I've versatile, I like lots lol! It's weird I keep calling him he, but am really not sure. He just seems like a he lol! Could call him sleep cause that's what he keeps doing when I hold him lol! Or Bob cause he is still 'bobbing' his head up and down. My Dad was from Italy and I have a friend from France so I thought of the word blue in either Italian or French, but they both kinda sound like blue anyway so seems a bit weird calling him just blue!! If we get him on Saturday I'll put some pics up so maybe someone will have an idea from his pic! Do you think you'll get Byron DNA tested or it really doesn't matter? I guess it doesn't really matter to me which sex he is, I'm just curious lol! Yes Byron really is gorgeous! I didn't even know they could be grey! Ang

Angela, FYI Biteybird has a blue quaker called Bonnie. She is currently touring New South Wales - Bonnie goes along with her and her husband whenever they take trips.

I might get Byron dna tested as he gets older just in case of potential egg binding later on. But I'm genuinely not too bothered what about just a cute little name that suits him? We though about Dylan, Ronnie and Sherlock for Byron as well. Tough when you want a gender-neutral name though! Could call him Loki after the Nordic trickster God?

Oh really Bonnie!! Haha that's funny! Great minds think alike... I've moved on from Bonnie though.. Wonder how they go in caravan parks?? Wonder if you have to declare you have a bird or just sneak him from the car to the caravan with out them knowing??? Thanks! I did read the stuff you sent me from your Vet thanks. Sounds very logical! I emailed one of our local Vets today (one I've used for my Malamute Myshka before she died a few years ago) and they said no Avian Vet but they all see birds.... Beccilouise it is hard finding a gender neutral name... I like Loki though I need to look at the website I found of bird names and go through it and write down the ones I like then narrow it down till I pick one! That's what I did when I found Myshka's name Well as a few people have suggested something may just come to me when we get him home!

Congratulations! We had a lovely blue budgie once we named Sky... Though it is kind of a typical blue bird name. That would be cielo in Italian or ciel in French. So many choices, when you bring him or her home something will pop into your head. We picked Casey as its a unisex name, she was thought to be a girl by feeling her vent size, but she is nine and has never laid an egg so is probably a boy, we just keep calling her a girl, lol.

I think the name will come to you once you spend a few days together. I still love the name Julianna... but I guess I am prejudice ... ha ha ha... OK then... Julia or Jewels... all are good... lol lol.
good luck on the name. Oscar came to me with his name... I could have changed it but because he could say it already.. I figured better to leave that one with him.

Hi Caseysmom, yes Sky is nice actually! Thanks! Yes lots of choices... Julianna, my mother in laws name is Julie so if I called my bird Julie or Jewels, then don't know if she'd be upset at me lol!!!!
Yes I'm sure once we spend a few days with him we'll figure out something... All I can say is, it's not gonna be Popeye!!!! I don't even know why my husband even thought of that name!! Then Joel (son) like it too! Weirdo's! LOL

Julius, as in Caesar, would work for a male. Not exactly royalty, but certainly a worthy name for an imperious Quaker.

I like the name Willow. Loki sounds like a good name as well - a bit unusual.

I always think of Quakers as having cheeky faces. When Byron fluffs up as his little cheeks are all fluffy, it's the cutest thing. Maybe something a bit mischievous, like Pascal or Poncho?
