I'm thinking of getting a Quaker, but I have a question. My wife has 4 parakeets in 2 cages that stay there, but they would all be kept in a living room in separate cages. If I get a baby Quaker will it try to bond to the parakeets instead of me? The reason I ask is that a friend told me he tried with a Parrotlet baby and it always wanted to bond with the parakeets and he had to give up, and return the bird.
Thank you, Bob exeduno@msn.com

Hello Bob and welcome. I am not really sure if Quakers will bond with other birds but from what I have seen, they tolerate other birds but do not bond with them. Also, the parakeets have a nice little chirp... I do not think they are going to like your Quakers chirp..
Good Luck.... and maybe someone else on here has better advice.

I don't think there would be much risking of the Quaker bonding with the others, especially if they are housed separately and don't have out of cage time together. And especially if you have a hand raised baby and really work on developing your bond.
