Hello all! I am new here and am looking forward to getting involved in the forum. I got my first Quaker on July 5th. He's the most amazing, sweet and funny bird I've ever encountered. I'm smitten. I want more quirky little feathered friends and I plan to breed them someday. (I bred Zebra finches when I was younger, so I've got some experience and I'm excited to get back into the hobby.) So on Saturday, I'm getting another! She is a two year old, blue, DNA verified female. She has that beautiful, slightly teal tinted, deep blue color. It's like the ocean. I'm having trouble coming up with a name for her. I want something inspired by that beautiful deep ocean blue. It could be a color, a flower, a creature- anything that evokes the shimmery color. Any help is appreciated!

Welcome! You might find it easier once you have her in your home. I have a couple for your consideration. If nothing else, maybe they will help to spark some ideas for you. Going with the ocean theme, La Mer, Oceanna, Marina.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing pictures of this beautiful sounding bird!
My few name ideas: Shelly (I've actually really taken a liking to this one), Sandy, Cerulean.

Thanks easttex and zim! I really like Cerulean and Marina! Those are definitely going on the list. I'm also considering Sapphire, Jewel and Iris. It would be so much easier to name her if my fiance wasn't so picky about names! I'll be posting pictures of both the babies soon I love your ID pics! Quakers are such photogenic little guys!

Welcome to you and your growing flock! The first name I thought of when I read your first post is already on your list: Iris. I had in mind an iris that used to grow in my back yard (when I had one) that was a deep, iridescent blue.

Welcome! I like all the above suggestions as far as names go. I'd thought of 'Saphira' (you know, the blue dragon in the books and movie 'Eragon'), but I also like Iris and Jewel. ...or you could go with 'Cyan', but it might remind you of a printer/toner cartridge, or cyanide.

She could also be Topaz. What I used to call topaz is now called smoky quartz, and topaz is the pretty blue one. Then there is Pacifica. I'll probably keep tossing more at you until you say she is named.

Welcome to you and your growing flock! The name Ariel came to mind (although some might say that name has been ruined by the Little Mermaid)... but I still like it

Hi and welcome. I would suggest Azul. One thought, Quakers can learn to say their names (which can be a huge help if they fly off by mistake). So think something simple or a name that has an easy nickname.
