I've got a tent for my little Yoshi. Now that he's figured out what it's for, he sleeps in it most of the time. Tho 1-2 nights a week he prefers to sleep cuddled up with his bird warmer. He doesnt seem to chew on it, but he does randomly viciously attack it, tho he doesn't do any damage to it at all. I've seen others here say their Quakers do this as well. Watching him do it, you'd think he is destroying it...but after he's finished there's literally no damage at all done to it. I'm not sure what it's all about. Also, when he's ready for bed, he will make 2-3 trips completely through the tent, from one end to the other, and peck at the outside of it a few times. I assume he's making sure it's "secure" enough to sleep in for the night, lol. One thing I would recommend is a (somewhat) thin perch. When I brought Yoshi home, I had only purchased "normal" sized perches for his cage. Since he was a baby his feet were small, and he had a very hard time gripping them. He fell down a few times. What is a bird warmer? Would u recommend me get one?

Hello Everyove, So im preparing myself and getting ready to bring my baby quaker home in a few weeks. Im getting ready to order all the stuff i need for my new baby but i have a few questions. Ive seen online that quakers love the little hanging tents to sleep in. Is this correct and should i get one for my new quaker? Also any info on what to get to be prepared would be great as in toys, etc...

I have a question. Im very new to quakers. I will be getting my first in about a month. So how long after bringing her home do I wait before I introduce her to water? How should I introduce her to it for the first time? How many times a week can she play in water/get a bath? and does she dry herself or how do you dry her that way if it is cold she doesn't get sick?
Thank you!

Thanks everyone for welcoming me and my soon to be baby Quaker. I have to wait til March-April before my baby will be able to be ordered because that is when the pet shop owner does her ordering and that's when the babies are available to her. Im thinking I am going to go with the Green Quaker but I also really love the Blue ones so really whatever I can order ill go with. At the moment I am just ordering everything it will need as in cage, toys, etc. so I can be ready when baby quaker is ready to come home.
Does anyone have any recommendation of anything I should get to be ready for baby quaker?

Hello Everyone, Im Kayla and I am very new to Quakers. I was in PetSmart the other day and was looking at the birds because my wife said something about wanting a bird. There was also some other customers who were standing there with us looking at birds and over heard us talking about what kind of bird we wanted to get. They spoke up and said the best birds are Quaker Parrots. I said Ive never heard of those and were would I get one. The guy said the Bird shop down the road has them. So at that point after him telling me all about his 2 Quakers I said I was gonna do some research. I have researched these birds for 2 days now and I have fallen in love with them. Ive called the bird store and she is ordering me a baby Quaker. Im so ready to get my baby Quaker and continue learning about these beautiful birds. This website has taught me a lot that I needed to know and Im also about to purchase the Quaker Parrot Care Made Easy book.
Thanks to everyone who helps run this site to help us beginners. And also all the fellow members who reply and help everyone learn more!!
