Love the flightquarters website! I had no idea there were so many options for this sort of thing. We tried a harness with Cupcake a long time ago and it did not go well. She seemed thoroughly traumatized by the attempt. But I feel like these would be a lot easier to get on, so maybe we'll give it another go.

Sounds like things are going really well with Byron! The others have given you great advice. The wing flapping is probably just a form of exercise. Why does he have only one wing clipped? It's best to keep them at least roughly even in length. Cupcake will scream only when she thinks she's being ignored. Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, we live in an apartment where we are all in the same room or can basically see each other from where we sit the vast majority of the time. If Cupcake feels she has been left in a room where we are not, she will scream, but since she can either see us or choose to follow us, this basically never happens. When she stays with my parents when we go on vacation, however, in their single-family home, she screams all the time, because they don't let her leave the kitchen/family-room area, so she is often caged while they are in other parts of the house. They're always telling me how loud she is, which is so foreign to us, because she's a really quiet bird at home.

Bonnie is not interested in showers and only has a bath about once a week, dirty little girl! I don't know how to encourage her to bathe, but I admit that I should probably try a shower perch (I haven't got around to it yet...). Eh, a bath once a week is plenty. Cupcake really only bathes once a week as well... twice at the absolute most. One thing I will point out is that taking Cupcake into the shower is one of our most valuable tactics when we need her to chill out or calm down. No matter how upset or weird or grumpy she is, all is right in the world once we enter the bathroom. She has a suction mirror-perch that she can sit on while we are outside of the shower, and the aforementioned shower perch when we are in there. Both are worth their weight in gold when it comes to keeping this chicken happy and us sane.

Jan-- this sounds really tough. I'm sorry. I can certainly understand your consideration of all options, and I will be behind whatever choice you make. That said, I'm glad to hear he is eating again. That is encouraging. We will most certainly be praying for you and little Pippin!!

I'm very happy to hear that the lupron seems to be working. That's very encouraging! Poor little guy... all those meds surely aren't very fun for him. What a good boy.

Greetings and welcome to you and Byron! I'd love to see a picture of this grey little fellow! As Cnyguy noted, they are not too common! He seems quite handsome from your avatar.
Our QP, Cupcake, is on Harrison's pellets as the base of her diet, which we personally prefer because they are organic. Also, she is an avid eater of cucumber and lentil sprouts, which she gets daily. She also likes zucchini, sweet potato, cauliflower, broccoli, cooked peas, and on a good day, she might eat some spinach. She is not a big fan of leafy greens, but some Quakers love them.

Greetings Will and Bishop! Welcome to the forum! Birds are really incredible, aren't they? Bringing Cupcake into our lives has turned everyone in the household into life-long bird lovers. As you implied, it takes a lot to care for these little ones properly... but it is so worth it. You sound like you've got quite a set of interests, and you've certainly come to the right place if you want to talk Quakers Welcome aboard!

Hmm... millet spray, eh? Cupcake adores millet spray. Do you know how common it is to have side effects from a stale batch?
So glad things are looking up. We'll be sending positive thoughts for you and little Pippin!!

Oh thank goodness! Things sounded pretty grim there... Really happy to hear this news. So happy for both of you!
Do they know what the blockage is/was caused by?

I'm not extremely knowledgeable in these situations, but I would say just get him in a situation where he is comfortable, has good food and clean water, and just let him be. If he is truly freaking out if you are simply nearby, then try to keep your distance as much as possible. If you can get near him without him acting terrified, sit and talk to him quietly from outside the cage, perhaps. The others on the site might have better advice than I

I take Cupcake into the shower on a regular basis, although she does not like to sit where the water can get to her. She has a shower perch that I've positioned out of the stream of water. I do pick her up and manually wash her periodically, which she doesn't really like, so I've been looking into alternatives, but I feel like there is really no substitute for rain-like falling water when it comes to keeping a bird clean Despite not wanting to be in the direct stream of water or even near it, the shower is still one of her absolute favorite places, if not her favorite.
