I saw the picture of your bird aviary. Was it easy to repair? Those poor children - they do love routine so they must have been out of whack by spending 2 days at home. And one of them wanting to play outside in the cyclone - yikes, he would have been blown all the way to Sydney

Hi Biteybird, I hear on the news that there is another one forming. Saw the photos on FB of the last one - thanks goodness all birds were safe inside your house. Good luck with the next one.

Casper has turned into the White Devil. He is nearly 7 months old and already the size of most cats. He looses control and the brain switches off - he has broken so many things. He loves water and I have to buy a paver to glue a water bowl on it so he cant knock it over. The poor dog is now on water rations. He likes to drop his toys into the water bowl and fish them out again. I cant leave water in the sink when I am washing up the dishes as he gets in there. He is fascinated by the flushing toilet and gets up on the seat to watch it. He has his own little "bath" in the shower - it is a litter tray converted to a bath. I take him to visit friends and when we come home he goes and has a bath - obviously to clean himself from their "dirty" house I have never come across a cat so intrigued by water. He bashes the dog up regularly (she is 11 years old in May) and she sometimes fights back but, at other times, she snaps at him so he knows to back off - for a few seconds! He is fixated with the birds so he isn't allowed in their room - but that doesn't stop him from trying to get in and if my attention is distracted for a second, he is in there. He reaches into the bottom part of Shah's cage - Shah comes down to the bottom of the cage and entices the cat to put his paw in - so Shah can bite it. They are as bad as each other. He is charging through the house while I am writing this - sounds like a herd of elephants. But he hasn't stopped waking me during the night for cuddles and when he knows he has gone too far, he seeks me out and purrs loudly until I pick him up for a cuddle. Little devil!

What a sympathetic bird Oscar is I am so sorry for your loss. It is always difficult when someone close to you passes away - there will always be a special place in your heart for her. Take care.

Hmmmm, might be a chance of little Clydes and Jades running around. Now that would be something to behold

I am glad that Oscar is in such good shape. Please let us know the results of the blood and DNA tests. You must have been out of your mind with worry.

Shah coughs when I cough - it is funny but quickly becomes annoying as he just goes on and on. He also sneezes when I sneeze.

That's really lovely. Shah is the worst nurse in the world and doesn't tolerate me being ill. Get better soon.

That's really sad but at least he was a happy chappy and enjoyed his life with you.

Firstly, don't panic. The vet seems optimistic about his chances of recovery. Secondly, look further into this disease and see if there are other options especially in complementary medicine. It is very important that you don't show any signs of sadness around him - keep everything upbeat. You are allowed to be sad for only one day then it is back to business in helping Oscar recover. Never give up hope. Hugs to you and Oscar.

Hi Ken, I recently lost my kitten at 10 months. I tried to replace her straight away as it was awful without her. At the time, I wasn't quite fast enough to get another rescue kitten as they were snapped up so quickly. It was dreadful waiting for one but, in the end, the rescue group put one on hold for me. He is an absolute delight (when he is asleep). If you want another quaker, just know that one will come to you. The trick is to keep looking and never give up. It will test your patience to the limit but some things are worth waiting for. Are you prepared to travel to pick up a quaker as it might be worthwhile looking further afield? Somewhere out there is a quaker looking for his/her forever home.
