Yay! My female Quaker forum family members are all Hyster Sisters, too! I'm off to sleep now. I was kind of hesitant to share here, but I'm glad I did.

Yes, unfortunately I'm used to pain. I had surgery to stretch the muscles in my eyes when I was about 2 years old, tubes in my ears at a young age, back surgery when I was 14, two jaw surgeries at 16 and 17, and now the hysterectomy sometime in the next couple of months.

Yup, I'm joining the club! I can't wait! The recovery from a hysterectomy can't be as bad as the recovery from having rods in my back (for scoliosis).

Thank you, Aaron. My hope is that someone who may be considering Essure might see this and reconsider.
I've had it for ten years. I knew that something was wrong but couldn't figure out what. My symptoms are so varied that I never thought that Essure could be causing them.
Zach saw an ad on TV from a law firm about Essure, so I did some research. Total "Aha!" moment.
I had an ultrasound on the 17th, to look at my girl parts (LOL) and my follow up is on Friday. Hopefully I'll get my surgery date then, too. Then I'll have an x-ray to find the right coil (it isn't where it should be) and then I'll have a hysterectomy (taking my uterus) and bilateral salpingectomy (taking my fallopian tubes).

People are filing individual lawsuits, but because Conceptus (the original manufacturer - Bayer now manufactures Essure) got Pre-Market Approval from the FDA as a Class III device, neither Conceptus nor Bayer could be sued.
I don't really understand much of the legal aspect, so this may or may not be correct.
On March 1st the FDA recommended a black box label for Essure as well as more studies. From what I understand, the black box label opened the door for individual lawsuits to be filed.
Pre-Market Approval means that a manufacturer of a device must submit an application to the FDA with information about how the device is designed and manufactured as well as the results of all studies.
A black box label means that a medication or device has a significant risk of serious or life-threatening side effects.
A Class III device is one that is life saving or intended for permanent implantation in the human body.

I'm a member of the Essure Problems Facebook group and sooo many women were lied to when they were implanted.
I don't believe that I was intentionally deceived, but I wasn't told about the nickel and plastics that Essure contains or about most of the possible side effects. I was told that Essure is wonderful.
I don't think the doctor I saw was aware of some of these things.
Other women were intentionally lied to, though. Two young girls, ages 17 and 18, were implanted because their doctor told them that Essure is completely reversible. Others were also told the same thing. So sad.
The truth is, only a small handful of doctors, maybe 4 or 5 in the US, have the ability to reverse Essure. It costs about $7,000 and is not covered by insurance. The majority of women are having hysterectomies or if they're lucky, bilateral salpingectomies (taking just the tubes and coils).

I think they did this for population control.

Hi everybirdy! I just want to check in and let you know that I'm still around. My health hasn't been so good lately and I'll be having surgery sometime in the next couple of months. I'll tell you all about it after the surgery. For now, I'll just say to all of the women on the forum... If you or anyone you know either have or are considering something called Essure, PLEASE Google it. I hope you're all doing well.

Zach showed me the Cockatoo video and I couldn't help laughing... It was awful, but a little bit funny.

Maybe Chewy actually might come around and let me hold and pet him, if I'm willing to take some bites. Lightbulb moment.... LOL
