It seemed seasonally appropriate (and also because I am forced to carve a clown pumpkin tonight for my stepdaughter's pumpkin contest tomorrow) to share this pumpkin that I carved in 2013... Unfortunately I haven't done anything nearly as cool since, but hey... Happy almost halloween!

Very impressive! Pumpkin-carving was never my forte-- I always went with triangles for eyes and nose, and a scowling mouth with a few jagged teeth. If I tried anything like your pumpkin there, it would end up in the compost heap before I was halfway through.

Thanks! I've always been a fan of pumpkin carving.. it definitely helps to have all the little saw tools to do it. I was particularly proud of this one though. Seemed appropriate to share here Tonight's clown went fairly well as well. Stepdaughter was pleased at least!

Wow, that is very impressive. We don't do the pumpkins in Australia but children do roam the streets looking for sweets (candy) so we make sure we have a stock of them for the little munchkins.

Holy Smokes aaron... that is awesome. I had to look twice to make sure you didn't have a real bird in there lol.... Excellent picture. Happy Halloween to you all.

Wow, I'm impressed! The Halloween thing has only really taken off here in Aus in the last 5 years or so. Before that I didn't hear much about it. It's a scary-looking quaker in the pumpkin (Cupcake on a fiesty day?)!

Thanks julianna and biteybird!
Haha, it wasn't intended to be a scary-looking quaker, but I agree that's how it ended up. Maybe that's appropriate for the halloween vibe. Cupcake on a fiesty day can certainly be scary!

I love that pumpkin! It would be hard for me to get rid of something like that. Why are you doing the work for someone else's contest? Isn't that a little like cheating?

Thanks easttex! It was very delicate so it rotted pretty quickly. Kinda forces you to get rid of it It was very collaborative... She designed it, but I did the carving.. but then she painted it and added pipe cleaner hair. And looking at the other contestants at this school, I'd say many of the parents just did the whole thing for their kids. But we did get second place

Hey aaron... I showed your carving to Oscar today. In order to get him to focus on it.. I shook the picture with my mouse up and down and then Oscar started talking to it... lol... Hey was saying... yes... yes... yes... too cute.

I'm pleased to know that Oscar approves of my work! That's a tough approval to get!
