Does anyone else do this? I know it's not necessary since our fids are little (usually the big birds are the ones who shower due to size,) but my husband and I bought a shower perch that uses suction cups and Happy loved it. I was surprised because I thought she'd be afraid of the noise and the strange surroundings but she seemed to react like a kid on a field day. New, exciting stuff!

I've actually been wanting to try this with Mr P. He refuses to bathe in anything but his water dish which obviously isnt big enough. Currently, I take him outside on my enclosed porch and spray him with a plant mister but I wondered if he'd enjoy showering with me.
Up until recently he has been so timid about going to different places and perches, I thought he'd be scared but he seems to be over this now.

Yup, I can't head into the shower without Casey noticing and calling me. she loves to sit on the shower door and chatter away, sometimes she just gets a steam bath and other times when I have time I lift her down, turn the water temp down and deflect the water off my hand to spray her, she whistles, then positions herself under the spray and sits very still while she gets sprayed.

My little guy Cabu loves his bath. I'm wondering if any of the bird sprays with aloe etc. are beneficial. If so, what one have you used and was it worth buying?
I want to do everything I possibly can to keep his skin and feathers in great condition. Thanks.

I have no experience with the bird sprays, teagal. Happy just uses plain water (in the shower or in her bathing dish.) I think there are some others on this board who have used them, though, hopefully they will see this/post.

I don't use any with Peppy, because he bathes happily and frequently in filtered water. I do use a product once a week or so called Rain Bath on my CAG, Allie. She was plucking when I first got her, and she is also a reluctant bather. You can make your own solution. Half aloe /half water is common. If you do use it, I would not spray it every day. It's possible to get a build up that can lead to overgrooming. The best thing you can provide for feather condition is a good diet.

Yea, I didn't know about those things. My little one bathes without a problem. I just saw they made these sprays so I figured maybe someone found them useful.
This is my baby.....

Righty-O, update on Bonnie...I have been telling her for days that she needs to have a bath. This afternoon I got home from work feeling less than chipper due to hayfever. Hubby said "have a shower, it made me feel better". Good idea, thought I. Bonnie flew in the bathroom after me and would not leave me alone (was being a Royal Pain). I adjusted the water temperature to a bit cooler & just stepped into the shower with her sitting on my shoulder...SQUAWK! She flew up to my head...even worse SQUAWK! She was NOT amused!

I have taken Sammy into the shower with me a couple of times, she seems ok with it as long as the movements are nice and slow. She will sit on my shoulder and let me soak her. She doesn't "bath" too often, but occasionally she will in her water dish. Years ago we put a bird bath in the cage, but she wasn't too impressed. lol

Popsy was being a pain one day and insisted on coming with me when I went for a shower. She was sat on my shoulder when I stepped into the shower and I felt sure she would fly up onto the shower door when the shower started, but she absolutely loved it and my shower is powerful. She was closing her eyes and lifting her head up to the water. She also loves to bathe in the kitchen sink and is there as soon as she hears the water running.

It took Happy a few tries to trust the shower perch, but now she's bathing regularly with both my husband and I (depending on who brings her into the shower.) I have the perch where she can reach the spray, but isn't right under it, and she seems to really enjoy it. It's also nicer in the winter for her, I think, because water in a bowl/dish cools off quickly but the showers' nice and warm!

Cupcake loves the shower. For most of the time we have had her she just sat on top of the shower door/curtain rod (depending on which shower), but recently we bought her a shower perch and she loves it. I have it configured so she does not get wet, however. On the occasions that it is time for her to bathe I pick her up and bathe her by hand under cool water.
The shower perch seems to be her single most favorite thing to do, judging by the happy sounds she makes. She loves shower time.

I take baths with Sammy and he will slowly climb down from my shoulder to play in the water. His tail feathers will drag in it and then he'll puff up all big and preen them. It's adorable. Sometimes he gets exiled to the trash can beside the bathtub, though, when he goes from licking the water off my skin to nibbling on my skin. Ooopsie, bathtime privileges lost! I need a tan.
