BTW, I've never seen a blue quaker before - Bonnie sure is pretty! Why, thank you (on behalf of Bonnie)! Otis has that nice wide-eyed look about him that babies seem to have. Re the food, Bonnie is completely disinterested in most fruit & veggies we offer her. She even seems to have gone off apple, which she previously liked. She does eat sultanas and the dark inside part of mushroom pieces. I need to think of more variety to offer, without wasting most of it.

That is okay.... perhaps her taste buds are not ready for these things. But remember to keep trying in the future as they are very healthy for her.

Mushrooms are on the list of things that parrots shouldn't eat-- they can cause digestive problems, and some types can interfere with liver function.

Cupcake likes mushrooms too, but I don't let her have them. But I used to before I realized that detail, and she was definitely a fan. It's too bad because there's so much that is good about mushrooms from a nutrition standpoint... but I've definitely read in many places at this point that mushrooms are a "no" for birds.

I checked on that because I eat lots of mushrooms, and was tempted to offer some to Ralph. Found out it's not a good idea, unfortunately. It's good that we have so much information available to help with things like this so we can keep our parrots in good health.
