Rocky does not like big trucks, like garbage trucks or Schwan's (like Avon except they sell food, LOL). So last night when I was on the porch with Rocky and Schwan's showed up, I knew what was coming and tried to hustle Rocky out of sight of the truck, except it was too late and he'd already seen it. He put up his crest and his wings and started to do Car Alarm and I was scrambling to get him back to his castle, but he chomped me anyway. Didn't break the skin. But it's the Too Way to urge you to hurry with a chomp if you're not hurrying enough to suit the Too in question, and not being able to teleport, walking was the best I could do.
HOWEVER ...
I realized that we are making good progress in learning about one another and communicating. I've learned that Rocky doesn't like big trucks and needs to be away from windows when they visit our house. He has learned that he doesn't have to make Mommy bleed to urge haste; just a pinch will work. He knows that I know what that means. As soon as the truck was gone, Rocky's crest was down and he held up his foot and we went back to the porch. Then the phone rang. Long story, I won't bore you with the details, but angst in regard to Hubby's elderly and infirm father and that means we get a lot of phone calls. Hubby wasn't home and with Rocky on my lap, hustling in to get the phone wasn't going to happen and the machine would have to get it. The phone rang four times in five minutes (Elderly Father can't get it through his head that if the machine picks up, it means nobody's available and calling right back again ... and again ... and again ... won't make someone magically appear) and the fourth time, when the phone rang, Rocky piped up "Hello!" which made me laugh, which made Rocky laugh.
