Hey everyone!
Bandit is doing fine, I don't remember if I had posted this yet; but I moved her into the living room. She seems to like it in there, since she can see and hear anything happening in the house.
Oh! And about the toys I mentioned before, I make them out of normal(and safe) things.
Bandit HATES store bought toys, but she loves sitting on my shoulder as I put her toys together, sometimes it seems she even tries to help... Until she finds the millet.
But this way she can get out some of her.. more violent habits with terrorizing the house hold.
She has been through ALOT, so I just try to find ways to make it easier for her to be a normal bird again.
Which is working great, I'll have to put some pictures of the toys before and after being with her a few days.
But these toys have really helped tone down her aggressive tendencies when she's free in the house, she used to pick fights about rules she knew were not up for discussion.. Like landing in a bowl on the counter.. You can imagine the things she got into as I was learning about Quakers!
She is completely back to normal where her bowls are concerned, which I'm VERY happy about!
She just hops around my hands as I do my work, sometimes perching on my hand as I unscrew the water bowl and work it out of the cage.. It gets a bit tricky sometimes, but in a good way!
I have also found out just where she is getting the oddest sounds... My niece!!!
I've been working with her to say new words, nothing. Then within two weeks she's picked up a plethora of noises and words!
It is the oddest thing, Bandit grew up with a little boy.. And hated him!
And now I've noticed that bandit is showing off for my 2 year old niece... And it doesn't stop there!
My niece adores animals, which is how I connect with her so I'm able to spend time with her, without worrying about my injuries being... aggravated. She just loves my service dog! <3
Anyway, when my niece is visiting I'm careful to keep Bandit on my shoulder, for both their sakes.
And Bandit would wait for my niece to leave the room to show off to my grandparents.
Now when my niece caught me at home with Bandit out of the cage, I convinced her Bandit was a mean bird and just loved to BITE (Bandit was actually grooming me)!
Since that day, both my niece and Bandit say "ow" when they see each other.
This is where it started. I'm guessing that Bandit knows I can understand her calls.. While my niece needs a bit more than that to pay attention.
What I cant understand is why she wants to get my Niece's attention so bad??
It's to the point I have to keep bandit in her cage when my niece comes over..
Because if I sit down on the couch, and my niece sits on the other side...
Bandit Hauls her tail-end down my arm, jumps off my leg, and runs like a mad woman across the couch.
Its a bit crazy, how bad she wants to communicate with my niece..
And quite funny because I was kidding that me and my niece would build block towns, just to let Bandit out so she could destroy them..
And that would be how Bandit would become her first pet.
But this is about all that's happened, other than browsing stores for toy components and researching and planning her play gym...
again sorry for the length!!
