I looked out my window and saw four raccoons in my birdbath:

Wow, that's a fantastic shot. We don't get raccoons here but I am fascinated by them.

They certainly look a little cramped, all crammed in there! I've never seen a real one (raccoon, that is), just in movies. That is a very posh birdbath!

They are interesting critters. They have great dexterity and they are smart. They are mostly nocturnal, but I've seen this group during the day quite a few times this summer. They reminded me that I really need to put out some water at ground level. I have a large pond not far from the house, but you have to go where the customers are.

That is sooooo sweet. I absolutely love all animals. I once fed some racoons during the evening and OMG they sounded like cougar tigers fighting over a cold weiner.

I lived in an apt at one point and we had a whole family of racoons that visited the dumpster about the same time I took out the trash every nite. We see them all the time here on the east coast of the US. They are cute but we grow up with the warning to be cautious around them as a good many of them carry rabies.
When I walked out to the dumpster to throw my trash away, I always made a ton of noise so I would scare them away before I got near the dumpster. I could always hear them scurrying away, and as soon as I turned my back on the dumpster to walk back to my apt, I could hear them wander back over so they could explore what I just threw out.
This pic is adorable!
