Okay, I'm sorry but I have to vent. I'm at the point where I wish I could rehome all of our animals, and not have to deal with this!!!!! Pico's illness and euthanasia took a huge toll on me. I miss him terribly. Bilbo's illness(?) has been extremely stressful. It's going to hit our bank account hard....thank goodness for Care Credit. Today I got a text with a picture, from my friend I'm temporarily boarding Cami with. It showed Cami's rear end with a HUGE area that's inflamed, rubbed raw and looks bruised. I rush out there, to discover that OH HOW LOVELY, she's dead lame in her right front foot! YAY!!! I'm completely fed up, had it up to the top of my head!!!! Enough already!!!!!!!!

I was chatting on FB with one of our forum members....I told her that I'm going to go to the store, get something for dinner, a bottle of wine and some chocolate, come home and eat my dinner, then enjoy my wine and chocolate while relaxing in a hot bubble bath. I'm very wound up (stressed) right now, and I was thinking about the advice I give to a close friend of mine when she gets stressed. "Take a hot bath and have a nice cup of tea" is what I always tell her. I think I'll take my own advice.

Dani, I hope you feel better soon. I wish I could help more. You obviously need a big rest combined with a few less people (animals) relying on you all at once.

I think I'd head straight for the Valium. If I had any. I hope today is looking up.
What do you think is happening with Cami?

I'll post a picture of Cami, I'm hoping that it's an allergic reaction to something, and the dose of Benadryl I gave her helped...I'll know when I get out there. I'm feeling a bit better today. The wine, chocolate and a good night's sleep were very helpful. LOL

Here it is yesterday: and today: I didn't think to take the picture BEFORE I put the cream on it...but you can see that it's much better.

It's looking much better. I should send you some photos of when Izzie has the itch and she bites at it. As the rescue group is moving to a property that is near a really big lagoon, I am going to rug her for summer. I already have a Eurohunter mesh rug combo but will get another couple so she doesn't get too hot. Am also thinking of getting a face protector (not the fly mask) as she gets it bad around her eyes. Once I move her to the country, it shouldn't be an issue.

Zach said something yesterday that made a lot of sense. He reminded me that I didn't have a chance to mourn for Pico before I left for California.
He told me that it's okay to be sad.
A very wise forum member used a great word to describe how I was feeling. "Overwhelmed".
It seems funny, but just having a word to describe it, combined with having permission to grieve (I think I was punishing myself for feeling depressed), has helped me feel more at peace with my feelings.

I had a cat that had a "hot spot" as the vet called it that looked very much like that. I don't know if you can put the same stuff on a horse, but you can go to Petsmart or whatever pet store you have there and ask them for hot spot treatment (and I don't know why you couldn't use the same stuff you would on a cat or dog) and try that. It certainly helped the kitty. Started to get better almost right away. So when George got a hot spot some years ago, I went and got that stuff and put on him and his cleared up, too. The vet told me what causes it when Sunny (the cat) had it but that was a long time ago and I don't remember anymore.

Thanks, Siobhan. Bilbo had a hot spot that turned into a massive skin infection a few years ago. It did look kind of like this. But this is responding very well to the Benadryl and cream, so I don't think it's the same thing.

Things have calmed down a lot. Cami's owie is healed, and Bilbo's foot and tummy are better. Now I can take care of myself.
