I am working from home today and Cupcake is not satisfied with anything I do. Luckily she expresses this merely by making that grumpy noise, rather than biting or anything of that sort... but her highness is displeased with everything!! Gah!
Her behavior is SO much better when it is not a one-on-one scenario. What a grumpus.
This is really nothing new, I just felt like complaining. Haha.

Hey aaron... we all get those days. Oscar is so very noisy since I came hoe and he is really trying my patience. Not only does he need to adjust but so do I... lol.
Hope Cupcake is just expressing something in bird language that we might not understand.... like that you... for taking such good care of me. lol.

Haha thanks Julianna . If only these birds would respond to us having a bad day by being sweet and comforting . But no, they pick up on that vibe and get stressed out too . Oh well. Definitely one of those days.

Aaron, welcome to my world. Hopefully this will pass for you and Cupcake will revert to her usual, sweet self - it never really passes for me

I'm sorry Jan-- that is clearly be difficult to deal with. It can be pretty frustrating on these days. Cupcake was much better tonight. Sometimes it's like she needs some time alone to chill out. And of course once my wife and stepdaughter came home she was much better behaved.

I got mauled by Shah again tonight. He gave no warning and went berko on my thumb which is still hurting. So I didn't talk to him which drove him crazy. He ended up giving me kisses at which time I started talking to him. Cupcake sounds like she just had an off day. She does seem to be a sweet little girl.

Peppy seems to be kind of cyclical. The day after he has an especially affectionate day, he usually seems to be a little crabby with me. Nothing like Shah. He just won't want to come out for scritches.

Cupcake is a very sweet girl. She is just trying to figure out how to make sure she always gets attention. And she really feels that when we have one on one time it should be spent fully devoted to each other... that is my impression. And she is fed up with the fact that I don't fully comply. But easttex, Cupcake seems similar. We almost never have two great days in a row. The day after a great day she always seems more inclined to be grumpy.

I've had some success with putting on Bach Preludes very loud in the background... She seems much happier since I turned them on. It's only been a couple hours though.

We are finding that classical music in general helps a lot with her, but she is definitely in a phase of making her feelings very known. Right now my stepdaughter is watching a movie in the living room and for some reason Cupcake hates it and she has been yelling non stop... So her and I are taking a break in the bedroom together. I can deal with squawking but the yelling still gets to me. I have to work on that.

Maybe you could try Mozart. There have been studies done that have shown significant calming effects on children and even babies in the womb (hence, possibly, quaker parrots).

Yeah, Mozart is a good idea... I will try that tonight most likely.
As far as yesterday goes, she seemed to simply dislike that specific movie, as once it ended she was a perfect angel the rest of the night, even while we were watching the world cup and making homemade sushi... She was in a great mood and very well behaved.

Oscar does not get much music however, I do love it. Yesterday was the first day I realized how well he responded to music as in the park behind my house was "a day in the park" sponsored by many volunteers. There were a few thousand people there and they were treated to free hot dogs, hamburgers, pop, flossed candy and music.
I loved it being so close and Oscar seemed to love it as well. He spend the entire day outside with the music playing and people enjoying it all around. Music does make a difference with these birds. Oscar still loves to hear me sing... lol... even though it is not very well... but it seems to sooth him.

Music really does seem to make a difference. Cupcake has been so much easier to deal with lately as a result. My wife sings to cupcake every night before she goes to bed, and Cupcake really seems to love it.

When we were in the car we put on a Joe Cocker CD (we're "Cockerheads" - i.e., Joe Cocker fans ) and Bonnie screeched for the first 5 minutes. Then she decided that she liked it and was really cute until it stopped...then started screeching again. I don't understand what goes on in her head!
