Good to know that it's at least nothing too severe and can be easily treated. Ralph and I pass along our good wishes for Cupcake's quick and full recovery.

That's great news Aaron. Hopefully the cider vinegar will clear up the problem. Kisses to Cupcake.

Glad you caught it early, Aaron. Hopefully you can dodge that antibiotic bullet!

Seems like the apple cider vinegar might be helping, as her droppings are starting to look more consistently normal. Hopefully that continues.

Glad to hear that re-cooperation may be on the way. I am so very glad that you all have vets and can post the results here. It really gives me food for thought should I experience any of these things. Do you have any idea what may have caused this? Any thing different that she ate?

Honestly I think I may be leaving her fresh food out too long... It's hard because she is generally home for a long time by herself so I am not there to remove it after a certain amount of time. I will need to come up with a plan.
The other thing is that she is so determined to poke around the fish tanks. And while I try to keep them covered she sometimes manages to sneak in there and chew on something and I guess she could be getting some unwanted bacteria from there. In general I could keep things a bit cleaner... I don't know. Will have to try multiple things.

Sounds like you may have found the culprit. Fresh food usually stays pretty good from my experience. I will leave lettuce, red peppers or green peas out on Oscars dish for at least 12 hours and so far no problems. I give it in the afternoon and only remove it in the morning. He eats most of it before bed time which is 8:00 p.m. I am thinking maybe if he drinks the water in the fish tank... that could be a problem. Oscar does like sea food and little bits of fish so perhaps Cupcake is attracted to the taste?
Best wishes for sure.

Yeah I often leave her cucumber and sprouts out for 12 hours. They smell fine but I know that leaving fresh food out for this long is not typically recommended.
She does not drink the fish tank water, but sometimes a salty crust will develop around the edges at the top, and in the cracks of the filter and such. It is pretty hard to get it perfectly clean. She loves salty things, which of course is bad for her, and never gets them, so I think she gets obsessive because it tastes salty. I am constantly chasing her away from fish tanks.

We went back to the vet today and got another fecal gram test for Cupcake and it came out totally clean! So she is healthy!
Of course I forgot to ask about the sprouted diet while I was there, but I am going to send them an email about that in the near future.

Good for Cupcake! And you, too, of course. Love those clean bills of health.
