That's a great photo, Jan (& Dani). I've never seen that many in a tree. We get large flocks of white cockatoos here (Melbourne) and sometimes the black ones, but I've never seen wild budgies in groups.

That picture is super cool... And I agree, a flock of Cockatoos would be very intense.

We just had flock of cockatoos fly over the house about half an hour ago - I had to come inside until they passed.

I don't mind their sounds (from a distance!) as their screeching really seems as though they are rejoicing in life.

It must be great to live where you can see parrots in their own habitats!

Currently where I am living I see flocks of cockatoos, galahs and corellas as well as a couple of crimson rosellas and an occasional couple of eastern rosellas. We have lorikeets in abundance. Where I lived before, we had king parrots - now they really are a sight to behold. While the cockatoos are noisy, to see them flying and enjoying life is truly wonderful. Just thought I would mention about the budgie photo - note that there are no colour variations. This is because if there is a colour variation, birds of prey can target that specific bird quite easily so its life expectancy would be the same as anyone on Game of Thrones - zippo.

Where I lived before, we had king parrots - now they really are a sight to behold. The King parrots are thriving in Lake Eildon National Park. We went there a couple of times and they came right up to us and even went inside the car (which was open at the back). We also see Crimson Rosellas and Lorikeets in Melbourne suburbs.

The only time I've seen a King Parrot, I felt terrible for it. It was an Amboina King Parrot, and it was in a little cage in a pet store, on the floor, with a Cockatiel cage stacked on top of it. I don't remember much about it, except that it was a gorgeous bird, and the cage was little and dark.
This was a really long time ago, I think I was in high school or had just graduated...or something. I don't remember how much they wanted for it.

King Parrots are really cool. They have really cute faces too. That's a sad story, Dani! Gosh that kind of stuff is so infuriating.
