I just have to share with you all....Zach's dad is coming to town on Tuesday, and staying for two weeks. Yay!!! I've been busy cleaning the house, and decorating a bit. I'm an amateur photographer (meaning that I like to take pictures of things - landscapes and animals, mostly - and some of them actually turn out). I've finally gotten around to framing some of the better ones, and hanging them up. I feel happy! Here are a few: The person looking through the binoculars was a complete fluke. We were on a whale watching trip, and a small channel between two islands was completely socked in. We were a good distance away (my camera has a great zoom) and all you could see was this boat "floating" in the fog. When I got home and uploaded this photo, I was shocked, and super excited. There's something so soothing about moving water...

Great photos! That one on the whale watching trip looks as if it could have come from Antarctica. Sort of looks like a hovercraft we used down there.

Great photos, Dani! Nice work. My dad is an amateur-pro photographer... Meaning it is not his career, but he is serious enough that he is featured in galleries and regular sells his photos, etc. Anyhow, the upside of this is that he is constantly buying new expensive cameras and I get the hand-me-downs... Right now I am sporting a Nikon D300, which is so much nicer than anything I'd ever buy for myself. But all I ever get around to doing with it is being my step-daughter's soccer team photographer... I end up taking 500+ photos each game and then I have to figure out how to narrow it down to less than 200 or so... Then I wonder why I volunteered for this... every week. One thing I've learned is that the more expensive the camera is, the easier it is to take a horrible picture. Photography is super cool though... One of these days I'm going to take the camera and get some really good shots of Cupcake.

I see bird faces in both. The first from the front and a profile in the second. I see birds everywhere, though.

LOL I don't see a bird in the first one....the first one is a close up of a fly on a tree.
The second is harder...there's a tree frog...

I have a Canon PowerShot SX500, which I love. It's not a very fancy camera, but it's sensitive enough that it is easy to take bad pictures! LOL

I'm glad you're feeling better, Dani (about time!). They are GREAT photos. You should enter the National Geographic competition - I'm sure they still run it open to everyone to enter.

I wish I could be good at photography. My husband decided many years ago that he would make that his hobby.... uh huh... bought the big expensive camera... all the expensive lenses.... and you know it... we got NO pictures... lol lol.... One time he bought himself an automatic garage door opener when we lived at a different house.. and we never even had a garage... ha ha ha ha.... but it was on sale... lol

Very good photography, Dani. Long before photography went digital, I used to take lots of pictures with my 35mm film cameras, and I did my own developing and printing too. That used to be lots of fun, and I took some good photos. Times have changed and I hardly ever take pictures of anything but Ralph, and those aren't exactly museum quality.

LOL Thanks, Gary! I took a photography class my freshman year of high school, and loved it! Developing my own film was so much fun! My camera has the capabilities of a manual, but I completely forget how to use them. I need to borrow a book or two from the library, I think! Hmm.........I have two Ttouch books on hold....maybe I'll add to them before I go back to bed! LOL Thanks for getting me thinking!!!

LOL Thanks, Gary! I took a photography class my freshman year of high school, and loved it! Developing my own film was so much fun! You're welcome! I took the photography class in my senior year in high school-- and ended up teaching the class on color slide developing. The teacher had never done it, and by then, I had 3 years' experience at it. Sometimes, I wish I hadn't sold my enlarger and developing equipment when I moved from a house to an apartment. I miss doing the darkroom work. Digital photography has its advantages, but there's still something special about working with film.
