My friend Janelle recently moved her horse to a friend's place, to keep her out of the mud. Well... This morning at 2am her friend's barn burned down. They had just stocked up on hay and grain, which all burned. In addition to the feed they lost all of their tack and eqipment, and some animals. Alpacas, rabbits, chickens, a miniature horse and Janelle's mare all were lost in the fire. Five horses were saved, unharmed. Kiki, Janelle's mare, was her first kill pen rescue. She came from a feedlot near Yakima, WA two years ago. The firefighters got her out of the barn, and the vet who responded said that she should survive. Unfortunately, she was too badly burned, and on top of that, went into respiratory failure on the way to the vet clinic. She had to be euthanized. I'm posting a couple of links, one is the news article and the other is their gofundme page. I saw a picture of Kiki on Facebook. She was still alive. I am so sorry for your friend's loss and for all the losses incurred in this fire.
