I will admit, yes, I am a little concerned that I will grow so fond of her I will wind up adopting her. She has been super sweet so far and what a clown. I keep telling Rick (b/f) not to even let me consider adopting her but he really likes her too!
When a new foster comes to someone's home, we are required by the rescue to take photos and submit a "bio" on the bird within 10 days of it coming into foster care. The bio and photos go on FPRs local petfinder site so people can look and see which birds are available. It dawned on me last night that I have already had Daisy for 8 days and I had yet to write the bio. I wrote bios on Remi (foster tiel) and Pele the Pi within a few days. Subconscious? Maybe. I am not ready for her to leave my house yet.
I did submit the "yep" video, she will be adopted quickly, even though she doesnt step up yet. In the long run, the sooner she is adopted the less bonded we will be to each other, the easier it will be to let her go. I just keep telling myself, my house is not that big. If I adopt another bird I will have no more room to foster. I can help out so many more parrots in need of homes if I foster than adopt. Yep (nodding head like Daisy) that's what I keep telling myself.

I don't know if I could ever say goodbye to birds that I fostered. That would be so hard. I definitely admire your determination to maintain a situation where you can keep fostering. It is a wonderful thing you are doing.

Well honestly it's been easy so far. Although I've been fond of all the birds I've fostered so far, and I have a vested interest in Pele because of all the work we did with him, I have never really fallen in love with any of them yet. There are 2 other goffins on the waiting list to come into the rescue. I would imagine if I really like Goffins so much, I could probably foster another one Not that one bird replaces the other but you get a feel for the personality of the species itself, although each bird is an individual

I don't think I've ever met any bird or animal (my own or foster) that I don't fall in love with in 5 minutes! This would, no doubt, make me a bad fosterer, so it's just as well I don't do it.

It's a tough call Sharyn. I have ever only fostered native wildlife that had to be released back into the wild. That was difficult enough as I couldn't help but worry about them once they were released. I don't think I would be any good as a pet foster carer as I would have to adopt everything that came through the door.
