Has anyone else noticed???... Oscar gets grey tipped shoulders the more he gets in heat. Does this happen to others... or perhaps for other reasons?

I'd need to see what you're talking about in a photo I think. I am not aware of feather color changes as a result of hormones but perhaps? Do you handle him a lot in ways where your hands contact the tips of his shoulders?

I don't think it would be the hormones. Once a feather comes in, you look for external factors if the color changes. The pigment can wear off, or it could be residue from handling or food. Probably other possibilities, too.

The tips of Bonnie's side feathers went a 'bronze-ish' colour once, for about a few days, then the colour went back to normal. At the time we were camping and handling her a fair bit. People on the forum mentioned that the oils in our hands might have been the reason, or else a diet deficiency of some sort.

I had the same issue with Cupcake's feathers... based on other threads I think we handle our birds fairly similarly. As long as the feathers come in looking good, it's nothing to worry about. Cupcake has also had dark tipped feathers early on when her diet was poor, and those are quite different. Feather bronzing is probably not a diet issue.
