So Sonic has made up this game. I lay on my bed with him on my chest and we watch t.v. The other day, I had my hand on my chest he burrowed his head under it, ultimately his head and most of his body was on my hand he ended up on his back and stayed that way for a while. I thought birds on their backs was unnatural behavior. I guess that means he trust me. It was really funny. I was just curious if they do something like that in the wild?

Peppy has not done this. After he's been here longer and trusts me more I've thought about attempting to put him on his back. My grey will grab a finger and then roll over onto her back, and my lovebird used to happily play with a ball while lying on his back. I don't know of anything similar in the wild. It does make you feel trusted when they make themselves so vulnerable.

I put Bonnie on her back all the time (usually she is gripping my finger/thumb with both her feet) and she doesn't mind it at all. Sometimes when we are play-fighting I wipe the table with her back and I even swing her in my fist through the air upside down and in 'figure-of-8s'. I can feel her bracing her feet on my finger with the motion, so I would say that she feels an element of control that way. I do think it means there's a feeling of trust involved. We have great fun with it! Bonnie likes 'nestling' on me/hubby's chest on her back or front. It sounds like Sonic is extremely comfortable with you and has settled in very well. As to whether the wild quakers do this, I don't know...

I guess it depends on the Quaker. Ralph isn't comfortable on his back for more than a few seconds. Some types of parrots, like Caiques and some kinds of Conures, are known for playing on their backs, more so than QPs.

It is most definitely total trust. I can also get Oscar on his back and he will also lay on his back beside me on the couch. It doesn't happen often but it is really cute when he does. Sometimes while on his back... he will slide upward and go beside my neck... soooooo cute.

Cupcake will fully lay on her back with her feet sticking up in the palm of our hands. She doesn't seem to love it but she will do it. She much prefers the kind of positions that biteybird mentioned, where she can brace her feet on a thumb
