It sounds like you have the beak trimming process all figured out. Ralph isn't much of a chewer either but as I've said before, he rubs his beak on his cement perch and that keeps it in good shape. The cement perch keeps his toenails trimmed down too.
With larger parrots, a pedicure really is a two person job. My old YCA George had to go to the vet for a nail trim twice a year, in part because he had a corkscrew toenail that was hard to deal with. They would towel George and the vet's assistant would hold George with just his feet sticking out, and the vet would do the trimming, while George would scream as if he were being murdered. They were very good with him at his regular vet's office and he was never hurt. So I guess if you want to trim Willow's nails you'll need an assistant too.

Yeah, I’ve always been able to handle my bigger birds but they were sweet Pionus and not squirmy Meyers parrots. I’m going to try with the claw clippers as she’s hanging off the cage bars. Honestly I got her nails BETTER than they were but she will still probably tangle in a sweater and get upset.
Maybe I could simply get some better clippers as I have an old pair of guillotine scissors which works fine for the little birds like Quakers. But maybe something bigger and sharper would be good for a Meyers parrot. She’s got some real claws. Or, maybe I can get the claws one at a time with the grinder when she’s hanging off the cage.
But she’s definitely too big to hold one handed and clip with the other.

A late reply—it seems like the nail grinder did the job fine on Jadpers toenails. But getting them trimmed was a battle without another person to restrain her. Today she’s sitting on my shoulder and not piercing my skin with her needle like claws. The problem is resolved for a while, but next time another helping hand will be needed.

A few weeks on, I just did another brief zip grind of Willow’s beak tip with the super mail grinding wheel. I’m sure it took less than ten seconds to take down his little puncturing beak-tooth. It was so easy and so much less stressful than a nail file. And we are experiencing spring naughtiness so it’s really nice to have reduced his puncturing ability.
