Hi everyone! I'm Tammi, and we are new to the world of birds. I had parakeets a couple times as a kid, and a cockatiel, but it's been awhile. My daughters both wanted to get birds, so we went through our local rescue and adopted a cockatiel for our 14 year old. My 10 year old had a hard time finding one at the rescue, and we came across an ad on Craigslist for a family wanting to re-home their cockatiel and Quaker parrot - so now in a short time we have 3 birds! I have some specific questions about the Quaker that I will ask later We have a diverse animal family at our house - 2 bulldogs (Harold & Luna), 2 cats (Midnight & Moon), 2 cockatiels (Kookoora & Ollie), a Quaker (Chester), a leopard gecko (Banana Bobana) and a few tetras. I look forward to learning more about Quakers and chatting with you! Tammi That is Chester enjoying a cherry (pit removed of course!)

This is Ollie & Chester. We discovered shortly after bringing them home that they weren't as good of friends as the people we got them from had said - lots of tail pulling etc., so we separated them (they had been caged together, which seemed a little odd). Now they each have their own cage, but can still see each other from across the room, or during their daily play time.

Welcome, Tammi. Quakers are great little birds, & I know you'll enjoy having Chester in your home.

Welcome to you and Chester and all the family! Chester's name seems to fit him-- to me, he just looks like a Chester. He looks like a happy Quaker in those pictures.

My daughter named him Chester, after the singer in Linkin Park - because he can scream lol. He's a pretty charming little Quaker though. Personality for sure!

Hi Tammi, welcome to the forum. Good catch on Chester and Ollie not being as good of friends as you were told. I bet they are a lot happier now with their own spaces. My two Quaker girls can be like that too. They will hang out all nice together as long as I'm supervising, but as soon as I turn my back, somebody gets their tail yanked. LOL
