Oh Siobhan, I have heard that before - "I am busy enough ....". That hasnt stopped you from taking on extra mouths to feed. I have not replaced Rebel and I think Spike may be a boy so it really is a bachelor pad in that cage. He still keeps his distance from Pippin who chases him away if he gets too close. Pippin sings and sings and sings - it is years since I have heard him do this. Of course Shah is so upset that he has taken to biting his neck again but I feel that I pretty much have it under control as I caught it early. He now is completely bald on the front of his neck due to mutilation damage. He gets upset about every little thing these days so am back trying to bomb proof him which isnt easy.

The advantage to being a bitty bird with a BIG attitude is you can fit inside your toy box. LOL

LOL I think his little birdy mind thinks that his first flight was a fluke...or maybe it scared him. He hasn't tried to fly since.

I sent those pics to Pico's breeder last night, and got the nicest response. I can't even express how happy I am that we have Pico. Last night was AMAZING. Usually he's SO busy, running all over us, using us as jungle gyms, running on the couch, playing with his toys. Last night he was perfectly content just to lean into my chest and snuggle. Then he climbed up on my hand and wanted kisses. Then I cupped my other hand over his back and he snuggled in there. Sooo sweet!

Well, Pico has one-upped Chewy. Yesterday he said "Hey dude!" LOL

LOL Zach often says "Hey dudes!" when he walks in the door from work. It's kind of nice for Zach, that one of our birds repeats his words, not just mine and Chewy's! LOL

He is almost unbearably cute! He sounds so much like the lovebird I had.

It's absolutely amazing how fast time flies! I saw Pico's ad on Craigslist on July 6th, and Pico was about 3 months old. He is now 10 months old. I keep wondering how his attitude is going to change as he gets older. LOL For now, he definitely prefers me, but willingly steps up for Zach. He has his moments when he just wants to snuggle, but he also climbs all over us, like we're jungle gyms. He's decided that anything I eat while he's out is HIS. LOL He runs down my arm to my hand, and stretches as far as possible to get whatever is on my fork. Tonight he stole a bite of fettuccine alfredo. Naughty boy!

Maybe he's been learning from Chewy that anything that is yours is his...

I finally broke down and had to clip Pico's wings last night. I only clipped the first four flight feathers, and I didn't clip them all the way up the shaft. So he will still be able to fly some...but my hope is that he won't be able to go straight up and then splat back down on the floor.
I emailed his breeder a couple weeks ago, asking if she allowed him to learn to fly a little before she clipped him, and she did not. So he doesn't know how to control his flight. He often flies into the wall and then goes splat on the floor. Last night he was on the tree and wanted to get over to me. He took off and went ZOOM straight up, hit the skylight, came down a little, flew forward a bit, hit the wall separating the living room from the "pet room", and almost fell in an aquarium.
Zach and I decided right then that he was getting clipped, at least a little. Hopefully it will help.
