As if to remind my husband and I of the vast behavioural differences between 'Her Rudeness' (as I call her), Ralph and Cupcake, Bonnie spent this afternoon progressing from one transgression to the next. Her favourite pursuits today were: *removing all the pens from their holder and dropping them one by one on the floor from the top of the wall ledge (narrowly missing my head) *sitting on the kitchen rail (where the pots hang) munching a wedge of apple, then casually TOSSING it on the floor - you, guessed it, she didn't bother picking it up * the Coup de Grace - stealing an entire chicken wing from my husband's plate in the 1 second his back was turned, which she carried across the room and dropped on the floor. All of this was interspersed with screeching, nipping (the 'OW' game), saying 'good girl' and making robot/goblin noises and pooping on my laptop and clean clothes. Some things never change... She sounds a lot like Cupcake when she was a baby. Cupcake got into everything when she was Bonnie's age. She wasn't a biter and she was super sweet, but she was all about mischief and was a lot louder. Over time, our *very* casual approach to training her (really just consistent good feedback when she is behaving, particularly if she listens to us) to know where she is supposed to go and where she isn't has been pretty successful, and she really is only loud when either looking for someone or if we do something like use the forbidden electric toothbrushes... I think she just realizes that everything runs smoother if she behaves in a way that we like that doesn't irritate us... and she gets more treats and praise that way. Bonnie could definitely end up the same way. To me she just sounds young. The only difference is that we never had to deal with the 'OW' game for whatever reason. We certainly have done our fair share of yelling 'OW', so I'm not sure why. But... she still makes the sneak attack to steal our food-- particularly when she has identified shredded cheese. I don't think that will ever go away. And we will probably never get her to stop trying to destroy the remotes for the entertainment center. So yes, some things do never change.

Oh Aaron, Cupcake's training of you is going extremely well. She has obviously been reading "The Quaker Manual for Training Humans" - I believe it is the section "Let the Humans Think They are in Control"

I am sure I am walking right into her plan. Haha. Sigh. As long as she keeps behaving I will believe whatever she wants.

I absolutely love reading these stories as they all remind me of Oscar. I am sure they are all related one way or another LOL LOL. Lots of smiles here.
