Some quakers have a tendency toward being one-person birds, but most will learn to tolerate other family members. Have your mom and brother feed Romeo special treats through the cage bars. If he's out of his cage you can put him down on the floor and have them pick him up. This is called the "rescue scenario"...parrots don't like being down low to the ground, they feel vulnerable...so YOU put them on the floor (in a vulnerable place), and the less desired person gets to "rescue" the bird. Keep in mind that Romeo may nip once he's been rescued, but if you do this on a regular basis he should start to accept them. Make sure they give him a treat when he steps up for them without biting. I hope this helps! He has settled down a little more each day. Now he only goes for my mom or brother when they try to pick him up , which (I think) is a great improvement! I tried the "rescue scenario" as you suggested and it worked great (THANK YOU!!!) Although, Romeo was very upset with me for putting him on the floor and having the nerve to just leave him there . Now he has a new time to bite...anytime he hears music he growls at what or whoever is singing. I watch two little girls and they just love that old children's show Barney, and ANYTIME Romeo hears the end song he goes absolutely bonkers! My sun contour Sunny who passed away about 5 years ago loved music, and i always assumed all parrots did. Romeo has made me see the error of that assumption . Does anyone else have a quaker who hates music?

I growl when I hear the Barney song too. Just shows that Romeo has good taste

And I think Romeo's beak looks good.

Romeo's beak looks fine to me too. It's probable that Romeo may actually like music, but has more sophisticated taste. Ralph would probably Quaker-curse that Barney theme song. He prefers vintage jazz, classic 60's rock and Beethoven symphonies.

I think I mentioned this in the other thread...Romeo could have perfect pitch and anything less than perfectly-in-tune singing might upset him! Maybe some Mozart or Handel wouldn't go astray either!

Yes after him "attacking" me when I sing kids songs like twinkle twinkle little star and when he hears Barney, I played him some other kinds and he did the same thing with anything with lyrics (excluding a country song called sundaze, he loved the whistling in it)

Go, Romeo! Instrumental and country music it is, then. Yep, quinn83, you need to 'stand by your man'!
