Hi everyone , my husband brought be an albino 17wks old Quaker named Harley (ring date say 2019 so not sure) for our anniversary and then a week later brought home a blue 12wk old Quaker named Merlin for himself they are both in the same cage and seem to get on really well ,always preening and screaming at each other 😂 sometimes it looks like they are feeding each other.
My question is after a couple of weeks training Merlin will eat out of anyone’s hand and even step on and fly to the perch but Harley will not do any of these things and I am lucky if I can get it to take food from my hand, it seems very nervous and always does a growling sound when approaching the cage Keeps its head down low (as you can see from the pic) and never sits upright they are out of the cage during the day and Merlin will constantly fly around but Harley just sits and may just do one flight to the end of the room and back again.
any advice that could help with Harley would be great Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum. Each parrot has his/her own personality and character. Some settle in more quickly than others and adapt more readily to new surroundings and situations. Just be patient with Harley and take things at whatever pace he's comfortable with. Try spending some time just sitting calmly near Harley's cage talking softly to him so he'll become more used to the sound of your voice and your body language. It can take weeks or even months to build a bond with a parrot, but it's worth the wait. Not all parrots like to fly. My QP Ralph prefers to have me carry him around and will only fly if something startles or upsets him. It could be that Harley just isn't a flyer. Housing two parrots in the same cage makes it more likely that they will bond with each other rather than with the humans who share their home. You might consider moving your two QPs to separate cages, while still allowing them time together outside of their cages.

Thanks for the welcome ,I will consider housing them sepperate but my son as a Galah cockatoo so there is limited space but I shall see if I can move things around. I done some target training with Merlin today and Harley came out of the cage and grabbed the ball on the end of the targt so I guess thats a start, atleast it approached me.. Thanks for the advice and putting my mind at rest
