Holy cow! Something very strange (but awesome!) happened tonight, as we put the birds to bed.
Chewy, our 12 year old Quaker, prefers my husband and has tried to attack me whenever I've attempted to touch him for the last 10 years or so. Well, tonight when my husband picked him up as we were getting ready to cover the cages, Chewy kept leaning toward me, and not in an aggressive manner. So I held my arm out, expecting him to strike...
and he stepped up! I held him for a minute, then put him on their tree. I still can't believe he didn't bite me!

Awww that is sweet! That is great that you got to hold him for a minute and he didn’t attack you. Maybe this will become a regular thing. I am happy for you 😊

Congratulations, Dani! Hope it's the first step toward peaceful interaction between you and Chewy.

Well, it only took 10 years. Maybe in another 10 he will let you scratch his head. Way to go!

I still don't trust him, but he will step up for me from his cage door (I cover my arm and hand for protection, LOL)!
I picked him up from his cage and brought him to the living room to hang out with me and Zach (he's flighted, but doesn't leave his cage on his own), then took him back....but he flew off of my arm and landed on the budgie cage, where I couldn't reach him. Zach came and got him. LOL

Ha! They are so clever, aren't they? When Bonnie doesn't want to go back into her cage she either flies to the top of the fridge or onto the shower rail in the bathroom. Both of these spots are places she knows I cannot reach. Then she watches me fumbling around with a little stepladder, sometimes making little laughing noises. Interestingly enough she doesn't object when I grab her in the beanie and roll her up like a little chicken souvlaki. Little minx..😝
