Clyde's Annual Crazy is unpredictable and can come along any time of year and this year he has chosen NOW to be nuts. The good news is, it usually runs a predictable course and then he's done for the year. Usually. The problem this time is, his crazy seems to have triggered Rocky's crazy, which usually shows up in April. Rocky is not QUITE at crazy as Clyde nor is he as crazy as he usually is during his own regularly scheduled crazy, which may mean his own scheduled crazy will still come along in April, TOO. I am having difficulty juggling two crazy parrots at the same time. Thank goodness, Freddie never seems to have crazy. Freddie will be 10 years old at the end of this month so I'm pretty sure if he were going to have hormones, he would have done it by now. Maybe he's just better at control.
If you're a Star Trek fan, a cockatoo's hormone spell has many resemblances to pon farr. LOL So once a year is all I can take.

Haha, yes, I AM a Star Trek (and Sci-Fi in general) fan...but at least Pon Farr is only once every 7 years! It seems you need a moderator/mediator in the family, perhaps a 'bridging' species (such as a budgie/cockatiel? - whoops, been there already). It's like the seasons shifting, or the Earth's rotation changing, or something! Sorry, as usual I have no advice of merit for you. Our 'flock' consists merely of one 6-year-old blue quaker and a 10+year-old pink bourke's parrot. Please keep us all informed as to what transpires...

We do have a cockatiel, and bless Freddie's little heart, he never displays hormonal behavior toward me. He quietly goes off and does what they do with a toy and doesn't feel I need to be involved. He's the only one of the three who is perennially cheerful and whose behavior seldom shifts. If I could kiss him this morning, I can kiss him this evening. He displays heart wings and tells me he's a "pretty baby" and sings his songs (thus the name Freddie) just the same every day.
