I only user vinegar and water to clean since i have a parrot. I would like to know if there is anything better to use that is safe around birds. I checked into the GSE but found that during processing it has gotten chemicals in it so i won't be using that. I just bought a new floor cleaner and Hoover offers "pet safe floor cleaner" but i'm not sure enough how safe it would be. Any thoughts?

I'm not familar with the "pet safe" cleaner that Hoover makes; maybe you can do a little research to find out exactly what is in it. I've used Murphy Oil Soap for years with no problems. It's made from vegetable oil and can be used on any kinds of floors, vinyl, linoleum, wood or laminate.

I use Pine Sol or Mr. Clean diluted with lots of water, and pour white vinegar in, too. I don't use it on anything they might chew on. Plain water and lots of scrubbing for perches and toys. Vinegar would be okay for those, also. I've used Pine Sol for the floor as long as I've had birds with no problem. Gary's right about Murphy's, too, but it makes linoleum sort of slick, and the birds' room at my house is cheap lino that my mother laid years ago, so I don't use it in there. Blue Dawn dishwashing liquid is perfectly safe for anything birds come into contact with, too.
