I will be getting my new quaker baby soon and plan on a great deal of training. I know that seeds are not great for him and certainly not in abundance. So my question is: what treats should be offered when training him?

You may want to experiment with a few different treats and find out what your QP likes best, and use that for a training treat. While sunflower seed isn't good as a main part of a parrot's diet, a few can be given as an occasional treat. Many people use pumpkin seeds as a training treat, and some use Cheerios cereal. Popcorn works best with my two parrots-- plain air-popped popcorn.

Are pumpkin seeds not high in fat and can be given frequently?

Pumpkin seeds are relatively low in fat and have a lot of nutritional value. A few can be offered every day.

I also think that millet seeds are okay to offer as a treat, as they are tiny and not that fattening. You could purchase some millet sprays and just break the seeds off them as required.
