Good morning everyone! This is my JayJay, he is 10 years old and a very good boy . I woke up this morning to having him look a little different this morning and had no idea there was a forum ou there to discuss these things. I am hoping that some of you may have an idea about what may be going on with him. His feathers turned darker around his beak this morning and when I checked him out it appeared that he was really red and irritated around the outside of his bottom beak. I don’t see any signs of bugs or anything but I noticed the last few days he has been rubbing his face on his perches a lot and not taking his treats as normal. I’m concerned - he loves me scratching him in that area and he is still eating some but did notice he did not eat as much yesterday as he normally does.

Welcome to the Forum. I'm sorry that I can't diagnose JayJay's problem. Under the circumstances, a vet visit would probably be a good idea. Information on posting photos to the Forum is here.

Welcome to you and JayJay! I am in Australia and we have a blue quaker called Bonnie. She's feisty (like most quakers). I don't know anything about what you're describing regarding JJ's beak feathers - but cnyguy has given you good advice in going to a vet about it (preferably an Avian vet, depending on where you are located). I hope JJ feels better soon and shows you he is recovering by eating more of his favourites.
